The Grand Entrance to Last Hearth, Capital of Svorolds

In the beginning the Svorolds and the Daemona were once one clan that was so beloved by their goddess that she sacrificed herself to become the land they walked upon, her heart becoming a great mountain. It was in the shadow of the great mountain named after the goddess’s heart that the clan thrived for hundreds of years as they delved deeper into the holy mountain and discovered the wonders held within.

It would be those great treasures that turned brother against brother.

The Svorolds, or the faithful in the old tongue, stayed true to the oath they swore to the goddess upon her death, but those that would go on to become the Daemona would break their oaths and conspire to take the wonders from deep within the Heart as their own.

It was from their treachery that the scourge of wild magic was loosed upon the world.

Those that betrayed their vows were cast out of the plentiful lands and what was left of the goddess’s soul rose up the Teeth of the Moon so that the Daemona would never look upon her heart again. It was on that day The Svorolds took up a new vow, they would atone for the sins of their kin and rid the world of wild magic and the plagues held within.

~Svoroldic Creation Myth

A proud people to the north of Terra Dei, Svorolds is headed by King Dante Oathborne, a man that can trace his line back to the first Oathborne, a man who pledged his life to remaining faithful to their dead goddess. The line remains patrilineal, the monarchy passed down from father to eldest living son. The current King is Dante Oathborne, whose legitimate children include three sons and two daughters.

While women hold high positions of power in both civilian and military life, the traditional family structure is that of a harem, especially in the higher reaches of power.

The capital and royal palace are built into a massive mountain found in the center of their homeland called the Mother. It is from deep within the bowels of the mountain that the Svors found their greatest treasure, a deep red metal that they dubbed the Heartstone and exhibits many strange properties including the negation of magical energies. (To magical beings, this metal has a distinctly different hue, though this varies from person to person.)

While there are many orders of knights that find their origins within the borders of the northern kingdom, there are three main ones. One of most well known is the Order of the Shepherds which specialises in the hunting and slaying abominations brought into the world through misuse of magics. Their faith calls them to be defenders of the natural order, in some cases quite literally, and to venerate both personal honor and that of their house. Upon the death of their Goddess, her soul formed what is known as the Green, a spiritual realm that connects all living things. The Green is connected to the physical realms through an ancient strain of trees, known as the Trembling trees. While they revere magic and the creatures that spring from it, they consider any usage of it or manipulation of the natural order to be heresy.

Recent History

The most recent war between Terra Dei and Svorolds began with the murder of the King's daughter and twin to Prince Asher in a foul act of treachery by the Daemona Queen of Terra Dei, Cerese. In response, King Dante sent a group of his men to kill the queen. They failed, and killed her consort, Nerys. Terra Dei went to war with the small country to the north, and it was ended with the King that followed Cerese. As part of the peace treaty, King Dante's son, Asher, was sent to be fostered in Pax until he reaches age 25.

Peace remains to this day.

On their other border, there are frequent small bouts with Marēns, especially for anyone that crosses the border.
