Infrastructure

Clothing, transportation:

Most clothing is reminiscent of the 18th century. However, during fete's and parties, even private contracts, clothing tends to get excessive and new fashions are made, some that are far more revealing than anything that would have ever been seen, even today. Most travel is done by horse or carriage, and long distance travel can be done from house to house via the rings, a magical way of transportation that exists for all the great houses from their houses in Pax to their central house within their region. They may also use rings to move from one house to another.

These rings are maintained by a member of House Daemona.

If going from one location to the another by horseback, please consider the following:

- The approximate size of Terra Dei from the tip of Andorian to the tip of Daemona is 3200 miles.  From the far side of the Wastes to Pax is 1600 miles.  Across the whole continent from Pax to the far side of MarÄ“ is approximately 3200 miles.

- Averaging 30 miles on horseback per day, it would take 53 days from the Wastes to get to Pax on horseback.

Medicine:

Though not technologically advanced, they do have advanced medicines in the form of herbal remedies. Most ills are treated extremely well with their potions and tonics.

Money:

Coin money is frequently exchanged and identified by the face of the monarch on the coin (every time a new Monarch takes the throne, coins are restamped). They are divided up into gold, silver, and bronze pieces. (A gold coin would be a Gold Ris, a silver coin a Silver Ris, etc.)  One gold piece is worth twenty five silver pieces, and one silver piece is made of 30 bronze pieces. Larger sums of money are exchanged in bars.  One gold bar would be the equivalent of 100 gold pieces, or 2500 silver pieces, or 75000 bronze pieces.

Taxes:

There is an income tax that drifts between 15-25% depending on gross income (higher levels of income, higher taxes), a land tax (no personal property tax) depending on value of land and size, and a 20% flat tax paid by the houses.

Income and comparisons:

1 silver Ris would pay for a 1 bedroom apartment for 1 month

4 bronze Ris for milk

4-5 silver pieces per month for the common (average) person

Amongst contracting members of the Great Houses, contracts would be based upon skill and time involved, a well if it's a single contract or a team contract. (For example, a one month contract for an archeologist team of 8 people, would be a total of one gold bar or more. A four hour contract with a well known De La'Mor may also cost a gold bar.
