Beliefs

They are a polytheistic society. There are temples, but all of these include an outdoor area that caters to the deity as well an indoor area. Many deities have priests that care for the temples and are there to offer advice or help guide worshipers into meditation, but greater formality is discouraged.

Deities are very involved in their everyday life and routinely consulted. There are no formal standards for "worship"; it is left to the individual. It is considered a great faux pas to tell someone how they should deal with their God or Goddess.

The Goddess Guanyin - patron goddess of House Felis - Goddess of Compassion

The two Great Lovers - Del and Amor - patron deities of House De La`Mor - Deities of Love and Passion

The God Andores - patron god of House Andorian - God of War and Battle Tactics

The Deity Ken`Nae - the female face is the patron of House Maldorian, the male face is the patron of House Sanee - Deity of Pain and Pleasure

The Deity Marqe - the sexless patron of House Weaver - God of the Written Word

The God Daemon - patron god of House Daemona - God of the Void, also known as the afterlife

Magic is something that Terra Deiens do believe in, but magic is wholly under the purview of House Daemona, and they are very secretive.

What they do not believe in is other kinfolk.  As far as they are concerned, there are only humans in their world -- no dragons, no mermaids/mermen, no sirens, etc.

The Svorolds, who do know that such things exist, as well as other flora and fauna, are widely regarded by Terra Deiens as being superstitious.

Within Terra Dei and MarÄ“, they have no concept of virginity.  While De La'Mor has white contracts before one's sexual debut is sold, the sexual debut is tied to their first time having sex as an adult and a member of De La'Mor. For more information, please see the additional pages on Sex, Consortship, and Children.

On slavery and enslaved peoples - Slavery is outlawed in Terra Dei and MarÄ“.  There is a single black market organization, the Northern Sea Company, that has a "safehouse" in Pax. Their "formal" headquarters are within the Pirate Flotilla and they are not open for character creation.

** The Card Game: Great Houses is frequently played in many taverns and inns, even amongst members of the Great Houses.
