Rules & FAQ

General Server Rules

#1 - Don't be an asshole. Your character might be - you should not. Slurs (based around a race, class, disability/diverse ability, gender, sexual identity, gender identity, etc) are not welcome. If we have to tell you how you're being an asshole, you're probably being an asshole.

#2 - You must be over 21 to play. If you are found to be under 21, you will be immediately booted and banned from rejoining. Characters must be 18 and above.

#3 - Don't cross the OOC / IC boundary. This game relies heavily on the fact that while you as a writer may know something, your characters might not. For example while there are a few other races currently allowed within the game, Terra Deiens do not know of the presence of any other race besides human.

#4 - On that note: IC drama is expected, but keep OOC drama to a minimum. We're all adults here and if it's too much to ask of you that you act that way, then this isn't the game for you. Resolution of any issues between players is far preferable to having the mod(s) mediate a dispute. However, please do not hesitate to let the mod(s) know if there are any problems, even if you plan on resolving the issue yourself. And please feel free to utilize the ticket system at any time.

#5 - Major and city wide plots should be run by the mod first.

#6 - Absolutely no godmodding, metagaming, powergaming or Mary Sue's/Gary Stu's. It's no fun.

#7 - As evidenced by houses Maldorian and Sanee, we are a BDSM friendly game. Consider this your warning/enticement.

#8 - For the comfort of our members, please move explicit content to one of the NSFW channels. We are a CW/TW friendly game, so err on the side of caution and place any CW/TW between spoiler || pipes.

#9 - Activity checks will be done on the first of every month. We are an active game and we expect that you will be playing, so this will mostly be a check in to make sure you're still with us. On the second month if you have not posted in character and you are not on hiatus, the character will be removed unless prior discussions with the mod(s) have been made.

#10 - Hiatuses are handled on a case by case basis.

Character Rules

#11 - You are allowed to apply for two characters. If you have two and you've proven that you can handle all two and want more, you may purchase another character slot. Information on how to earn coins is at #info, and what can be purchased is in #shop. ETA 14 March 2022: If your additional character has a BIPOC face claim, you may earn a free character slot and are not required to purchase another for that character. Donated coins may not be used for this purchase.

#12 - Two of your characters can be from the same House. For coins, you can purchase one additional house slot.

#13 - If your character does something IC, expect there to be IC consequences.

#14 - The mod(s) reserve the right to change rules as needed.

NSFW and Kinky Rules

#1 - This server, the sex scenes and the kinky scenes all revolve around consent. This is non-negotiable. What that means to us is that characters and players both consent to scenes.

#2 - Kinky does not mean abusive or rape.

#3 - Kink-shaming is grounds for banning. It's okay for something to not be your kink, it's not okay to kink-shame for it.

#4 - Use CW/TW and spoiler pipes liberally. It's better to warn for something and not need it than to not warn for something and need it.

#5 - Reality vs roleplay: it is important for members to understand all scenes are a creative outlet and not condoning an act or activity in real life. We do not condone or support activities that are illegal in your state or jurisdiction. To that end, we do not allow any scenes to contain the following: pedophilia (no children should be mentioned in NSFW/kinky scenes), underage (18) scenes (even if the character is older now), necrophilia, bestiality, rape or abuse. We find these scenes to violate the rules of consent, and we aren't interested in having them take place here.

#6 - Agreeing does not mean that you want to see NSFW and/or Kinky content. If you wish to see that, you will still need to select them as roles. Kinky will give you access to scenes in House Maldorian and Sanee, while NSFW will give you access to our NSFW channels.

#7 - A note about DD/MD and littles: while scenes of this nature are not forbidden, it should be noted that at no point during a littles scene should there be anything remotely sexual. Using littles scenes to circumvent rules about underage content will result in a ban.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play one of the deities?
- Short answer: no.
Can I play something other than human?
- Characters from magic kinfolk are capped currently. You may purchase an opening for another member of a magic folk using our in game merchant system with coins.
What about cliques?
- While the mod does realize that we all have preferences when writing with others, cliques are strongly discouraged. Monogamous pairs are certainly welcome, as are polygamous, triads, quads, open, etc. but your character's partner(s) should not be the only people you write with.
You've credited a few different novels, but not Game of Thrones, and I think your game is very GoT-esque.
- When this game was originally created, the mods had never read ASOIAF/GoT and thus, has not credited them. (And thank you for the compliment.)
I've never played in a political intrigue game before. What do I need to know?

What about communication?
- Within the city itself, couriers are available. At a distance there are falcons, pigeons, and ravens available.
Do I have to play in one of the major houses?
- No, you do not. You are welcome to play in a minor house or as a commoner. If you opt to play in a minor house that others may join you in, please submit information regarding the house to the mods for inclusion on the website.
Can my gender neutral/non-binary/agender/genderqueer character fulfill either the role of Matriarch or Patriarch within a house?
- Yes! If the Matriarch is already taken, then they would take the Patriarch, or vice versa. They would also be referred to as a Parriarch.
Do all the bases of the Great Houses follow European architecture?
- No. If you play a Matriarch, Parriarch, or Patriarch, feel free to submit images of the house architecture for inclusion on the website. You are not limited to European styles.
Can I have a mixed kinfolk character? (Such as a half-elf, etc.)
- Sort of. For those that have two different kinfolk in their parentage, their kinfolk is determined by appearance (and they would say that their mother/bearer is x kinfolk, and their father/non-bearer is x kinfolk). If unsure, kinfolk is determined by mother or bearing parent. Half, quarter, etc terminology is not used. This is also true of kinfolk x human pairings. Certain kinfolk are not capable of reproducing and that is listed on their kinfolk page.
What about slavery/enslaved peoples?
- This is not something that Terra Dei, Marē, or Aeshlnyr engage in. This does happen in Svorolds and in the Pirate Flotilla.
